The most spectacular feature of this new cultivar is the extremely arched shape of all the traps, which are 4 to 5 cm long on mature plants. They reminded me of the face of an alien from the famous movie “Alien” by Ridley Scott.

Dionaea muscipula ‘Alien’ G. Bily also produces odd teeth which are a bit shorter than typical Dionaea Muscipula. They also have small wings all along the tooth. Mature traps are also fused at the distal end and the base lobes of the traps overlap.

The traps do not close well because the lobes of the traps are very heavy. Each trap produces many tiny trigger hairs.
